He didn't.

The only thing even remotely similar would be tesla's claim that he had a theory of gravity (different from einstein's). Either he never got around to writing it down, or the FBI stole it with the rest of his research after he died.

I know, and that pisses me off. They say that he was working on some of the "Secret Projects" that the Nazi's were working on in regards to some really exotic physics.

...seriously, the FBI took his research after he died. He had been working on more than a few defense-related projects for the government in his living years. The government obviously doesn't like things like that hanging around.

He was just trying to build a particle beam weapon. Which, although impressive, is not "exotic" as such. And i don't think the nazis had any such thing in the works (although they might have conceived of it; it doesn't take a huge stretch of imagination to come up with a particle beam weapon, if oyu know what a particle beam is).

I don't think he entirely lost it, personally.

He was light years ahead of his contemporaries.

In his early years he was. Not so much in his later years; he just believed he could make technological applications work that everyone else thought wasn't worth it, or wasn't possible.

A particle beam weapon in 1943, when he died? For the time, that would have been "exotic", for sure. It is not exotic in today's society.

He also had crazy theories that he said he could prove but got laughed at for.

It wasn't all that exotic. They'd had particle accelerators for some time by that point.

The trick with a particle beam weapon is getting the beam into the atmosphere; making the beam is easy.
