Guys. Chill. I'm gonna agree that the "out of your fucking mind" statement is, while allowed, really not helpful to the thread. I don't see the point in trying to delete/censor it, but I would encourage everyone to remember that this forum is great because it is nearly flame-free and light on the personal attacks. And Lester and Giancarlo, if you guys wanna have personal squabbles not directly related to the threads you're posting in, either do it in PM's or set up your own thread somewhere where you can argue your worldviews. This is the second thread I've read tonight where you guys spent a page of off topic comments directed solely at each other and not at the group.

Look, I just don't think it is a good idea to say things like that because I have been on the myspace forums long enough to know it gets the discussion no where. It isn't against the rules to use profanity?
3. Anything goes, except do not post people's personal information, or attack people personally, stick to the issues. Also don't post links to illegal sites. Constant racial hatred and bigotry and Death Threats are grounds for immediate banning.

Technically, profanity is not prohibited. I agree that it should be avoided along with other forms of personal attacks that occasionally crop up. If JesusLopezViejo wants to delete it, I'll take that as a precedent that I should, too. For now I'm going to say that it's much more useful to state your own, substantiated opinion and point out specific flaws you see in one you disagree with than to flame anyone. You'll sound a lot smarter anyway if you address the argument rather than the person.

Well isn't accusing someone of "being out of their ****ing mind" a personal attack?

Wait a minute.. I'm not personally attacking anyone. I'm stating my own opinions. I may have a history with lester (and participated in a thread that spanned over 20-30 pages in the myspace forums about communism, that was relatively civil).

Yes, it is, and I'm sending him a message asking that he cut it out.

Any ad hominem statement, whether an attack or not, is irrelevant to the arguments, which should be analyzed on their own terms. If Hitler arose from the dead tomorrow and said, "Killing Jews is wrong because it deprives them of fundamental human rights," then the quasi-objective philosopher would ignore the external, personal factors and just focus on the argument. Basically, just stick to the issues; try not to make comments about another person, whether bad or good. A compliment is just as much of an ad hominem aspect to the debate as an insult, so just leave that crap out (ignore all of this, of course, unless you personally have to be utilized in order to make the argument work).

It's irrelevant what his emotionally driven argument is, and it does not matter when he is tossing around little childish insults.

Yes, I was moving beyond the profanity part of the thread and using actual arguments to refute the person who said he would like to live in 1984.

There is another angle to approach the depleaded manpower sitaution for our ground troops to and I think it would work. Why don't we stop with the protest rallies everywhere especially on college campuses. Also let's put an end to this nonsense of baring recruiters from the universities nationwide. May favorite thought is putting an end to this exagerated bull crap the media keeps feeding the public about the war in Iraq. Let's stop saying that we are loosing the war because of Bush when we all know that it is because the the sneeky liberals love to do anything they can to cripple our nations military and it's economy. Let's let people know that we need to continue this war until it is done. Let's live in the real world and realize that in war people do die but sometimes it is necessary to for the security of the free world. There is no such thing as a peaceful solution when it comes to facing the enemy. We have to destroy them completely until there are none left. So you liberals out there please stop with the bull crap and let's continue forward with winning the war on terror. Rolling Eyes

Hell I am republican and that made my eyes bleed...

War sucks ass, no matter how you look at it, banning recruiters from public places really goes against the their rights. ( Of course we only bitch about them when it effects us) Its a choice, if the kid wants army he is gonna go army wethere the recruiter is there or not.
