kind of funny how congress can stop the president at anytime and render judicial activism dead, but they allow it all to continue

Because a supermajority is needed to do those things.
wrong
a simple majority was all that was needed to table the columbia free trade deal

How does the Columbia trade deal relate to judicial activism?

Here's the rest of the story. The only way to get the attention of 536 of these people (the 9 Supreme Court Justices being appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress for life are excluded) is to vote them out of office. Until we as a people vote them out, nothing will change. Here's the rub...in a survey done by one of the news organizations several years ago, virtually everyone surveyed agreed that the congress was either crooked or incompetent or both, except for....their own congressman/senator who were apparently the only stand up folks out of the whole bunch. Even responses here (we need more congressmen/senators like (fill in an incumbant's name)indicate the unwillingness to toss ALL of them out in one 6 year sweep (435 congressmen in 2 years, 1/3 of the senators every 2 years and 1 president in 4 years). If we truly want to send a message, all of them, good and bad, need to go. If we don't do that, we are guilty of the same thing Charley Reese pointed out "if we have high taxes it's because they want high taxes...etc" The only way to change is to change, and that means EVERYBODY. Other countries do the same thing periodically, but they do it violently with an illegal overthrow of the government. We are one of the only countries in the world given the opportunity to effect the same thing every two years peacefully and legally at the ballot box, BUT...we never rise to the occasion. Our senator, our congressman is okay...it's that s.o.b. in (pick a state) that's the problem. But guess what...I can't vote for whoever is running against the Speaker of the House because she lives in California. I can only vote for the s.o.b. running against the very competent, honest congressman/senator in my state. Let's get off our collective butts and agree to "vote the bastards out." In the end, we have collective control over who those 536 people who run everything are. If we don't rise to that challenge, then the reason we have a congress filled with incompetent crooks is because we want a congress of incompetent crooks.

Good God! we need to stop ripping each other up. We are throwing insults back and forth while our country is DYING!
Both sides have contributed to our current 'dire straits'!!
The first thing we need to do is establish Term Limits. 2, maybe 3 terms....MAX...then OUT! Working in DC and Congress is like working in a cesspool. You may be able to stay 'clean' for awhile, but being subjected to 'filth' for a long time causes moral and ethical decay in people(I don't care if your name is Stevens or Byrd). We need to get them out before they lose their morality and ethics and begin to think only of themselves and re-election. Look at Spectre....he was a Dem...he changed to Repub to get elected...now he changes back because his re-election is in jeopardy. A man of 'true character' (he really is a character, isn't he?).
We'd better do this soon or our country will be lost!

The next step is to email this to every congressional representative and every house member and flood them with this information from the people who put them there, and who can have them removed.

I will send it to all the politicians from Vermont, I would love to see all Vermonters send it on with me. Let's move on this information instead of sitting on it.
